Cyclewise Training is one of the U.K's leading Mountain Bike Training Course providers and the first professional training company to offer the Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Awards (SMBLA) in England. Using our wealth of knowledge and experience we specialise in qualifying mountain bikers to become Guides/Leaders, this has lead to our Involvement in the development of the new Altura trail at Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District. We have also introduced many new courses for all ages and abilities and and will now be running more and more of these skills courses from Whinlatter as well as running our own Shop and Bike Hire at the head of the NEW Altura Trail.

We have a reputation for delivering a very comprehensive, high quality, range of courses including SMBLA Leadership, Mountain Bike Skills, and Mechanics courses in the Lake District and are pleased to now have our world class coaching venue and bike hire centre at Whinlatter from which we will also be offering Junior MTB skills sessions. We also deliver National Standard Training to schools and enjoy working with the cyclists of the future.

All our SMBLA courses are run with 2 tutors which means that not only do you receive very thorough training and great value for your money, you also get the chance to ride some of the best mountain bike trails the Lake District has to offer with some of the most experienced mountain bike guides in the country. Many guiding/training companies have been qualified by Cyclewise Training as well as Outdoor Instructors, Teachers, Youth Group Leaders, The Army, Police and professional Mountain Bikers.

As SMBLA Senior Tutors we can offer Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) and Mountain Bike Leader(MBL) Training & Assessments.
These courses are recognised by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) previously known as AALA and British Cycling (BC) the internationally recognised governing body for cycle sport in Britain.

It is becoming more and more important to provide best practice and for the purpose of risk assessments all mountain bike leaders are recommended to hold relevant qualifications of which the SMBLA scheme has become the industries leading award. As key members of the SMBLA committee Rich and Craig are actively involved in many working groups advancing these awards into the future.

In 2008 Cyclewise Training wiil also be offering the new Expedition and Night Riding modules.
We can also offer our services as Mountain Bike Technical Advisors to your centre or organisation. We have experience of AALS inspections and can advise on current legislation for this activity.
Cyclewise Training also run Maintenance Courses from our venue in the Lake District or throughout the U.K to meet group requirements. If you would like to able to maintain your own bike completely or if you have a fleet of bikes to keep on the trail then the Strip and Re-build course is for you.
